Fast track to shopping
This blog is for you, if you are someone who loves a bargain deal, but then you realise that the bargain deal maybe wasn't the best for you...
Shopping can be such a time drain, and you can spend so much more money than you intended to when you first walked into the mall.
But today, I'll show you how to save time and money the next time you need to buy new clothes. All you have to do is ask yourself three simple questions. Plus a bonus question at the end.
So you go to the shops, find a cute outfit and head to the change-room...
Question 1: Is this a full body "yes"?
As soon as you start to think "maybe," or "It's okay" or have any sort of self-doubt emotion!
It's already a NO!
There's no point bringing clothing into your wardrobe if you are not already saying yes, yes, yes, because you won't wear it! The memory of what you buy at the shop will be the same feeling when you put it on at home. This will result in a wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear.
Question 2: Can I style this three different ways with pieces that I already own?
This is to help maximise your budget and your wardrobe so you are not just picking up trendy pieces that you'll only wear once and then never wear again because you don't have the pieces to pair it with at home.
I say three different styles because you want to get as many looks as possible with one piece. If you cannot think of three different looks, it's already a no. Put it back on the rack sis! Or you might need to consider your basics to start filling up your wardrobe inspiration when it comes to these trendy pieces.
Question 3: Have I already got something that already serves the same purpose?
And if so, when are you going to wear the new piece over the styles that you already have? This is really important because there's no point in buying the same black blazer or the same pair of denim jeans or the same pink top.
We also tend to habitually grab the same pieces all the time. And that's why sometimes you say, I have nothing to wear because you have the same trendy looks, you have the same colours, you have the same blazers. That is a big, big question to ask yourself next time you are shopping.
Now, if you're replacing the older piece, then that is okay. What we're trying to avoid here is bulking our wardrobe up with the same pieces, but we're not wearing them and we're wasting money and time.
Bonus question: If this was full price, would you buy it?
This is a really important question to ask yourself because sometimes when we're at the shops and there are those flashy sales, we get so caught up in just taking it because it's on sale, and then we never wear it.
Do you actually want that piece?
So stopping and asking yourself at a sale and going, Well, if this was full price, would I actually buy it?
And if you say, Yeah, I actually would then yes, go treat yourself to that sale deal. But if you stop yourself and you think, right now this is $10, but if this was $60, would you buy it?
These three questions will save you so much time and so much money and you will enjoy shopping because you are deciding on what to wear for yourself. You're not getting caught up with the sales, you're not getting caught up with the trends. You're not getting caught up with what the salesperson is telling you that you look good in. You're actually making a decision based on what you need.
