How to design and promote your outfit
Let's talk about how to design an outfit and how you promote that outfit. So basically it's your personality. Whatever your personality is, whatever your vibe is, whatever that thing is that you want to project out into the world is going to reflect back to your outfit. And I want to teach you how you can design your outfit so you can project and promote your energy.
The reason for this is that when you understand your style and you understand your outfit, you become more confident and you attract more things into your life.
Here are my top tips on how to design and promote your outfit!
1. Design a unique and eye-catching outfit.
What is your personality?
I want you to name three words that describe you. Next, I want you to design your outfit that represent those three words. So for example, if you said kind and happy person, how would that look in an outfit? If you could build that, what would that look like?
So for me, kind could be something soft and floaty. Maybe a really nice floaty dress and something happy could be the colour yellow. Now I've just designed an outfit that is a yellow floaty dress because that represents kindness and happiness.
When designing an outfit that suits you, you can do three or two words but I find three is always good number. So let's say you said kind, happy, and driven with work.
Driven to me could mean a structured blazer. I find when I wear a structured blazer, I feel very driven and motivated to get work done. So maybe you can put the structured blazer over your yellow floaty dress.
So the first goal is to pick some words. Name three words or two words that describe your personality, and then how can you turn that into an outfit? How can you make those words an outfit? This is so fun! It's the whole point of styling and making it personal to you though. :)
2. Promote it.
Once you have your design, the next step is promoting it.
This step is really important because I want you to actually start wearing that outfit out and owning it. So let's say you've designed the outfit or you've found something online, and you think yes! This is the outfit, these are my words, this is what I'm going to represent and wear.
Now you have to promote it...and this just means wearing it.
Your style challenge is that every single day you are going to wear one of your chosen words. If you can wear all three in one go, credit to you sis. So maybe starting tomorrow, your word is, a quiet person. I like to live a quiet life. So what does that look like in terms of an outfit? How can you wear that? What is that? Is that the colour blue? Does blue make you feel very calm and quiet? Is it a more conservative outfit? Is it a comfortable outfit? Is it something super casual? What does calm feel like? And if you had to design that outfit, what would that look like? And then WEAR it.
I used to do this with my one-on-one styling sessions and the most common one that I would get from my clients is the word confidence. They want to feel confident. They know they can show confidence, but they don't have it right now. So what does confidence look like to you? And that's going to be different.
So confidence to me is wearing a really nice underwear set and then a puffy sleeve dress on top. It helps me to feel sexy on the inside, comfortable on the outside and I feel sooo confident. What is confidence to you? What does that look like? What are the pieces that make you feel confident and then go wear them!
