Your outfit says more than you think

Your outfit says a lot more about yourself than you realise. So whether you know or not, what you wear actually shows a lot about your personality and how you're feeling in the moment.

Studies show that people make snap decisions based on their first impression of what they see in what they're wearing.

So what does your outfit currently say about you?

Here are the four important things that you need to be aware of so that way you can show up picking an outfit and dress for success.

1. Your level of confidence shines through your outfit.

What you decide to wear right now at this moment shows how confident you truly are.

So let's say that you pick an outfit for the day. People will instantly notice if you actually belong there or not. And what I mean is that if you walk into a room with your outfit and you are unsure, you're not comfortable, you don't like what you're wearing, you don't like anything about yourself, people ARE going to notice that straight away.

That's why they say that you need to put on an outfit on that makes you feel at your very best.

It's not what you say, it's not what you do, it's actually what you wear!

So if you really want to show up and influence the people around you, and you really want to make a first good impression next time you get dressed, ask yourself, does this outfit make me feel really confident? Do I feel really good in this outfit? Just take a few minutes to ask yourself, how do I feel in this outfit? And if you need to make the changes, make the changes straight away.

You will notice people noticing you and YOU noticing you :)

2. What you are wearing can make you appear more approachable.

If you're trying to make friends, impress that employer, or go to a work meeting and want others to feel like they can approach you, don't dress too stiff and formal.

But if you dress in a more laid-back style, that will help you appear a little bit more approachable, and people will start conversations with you. So for example, if you're trying to make some friends, don't wear something that is restricting you and hiding you away.

Choose some colour that are a little bit softer.

Choose something that's a bit more fun.

And if you have to wear a really formal look for work, be strategic with that. Don't choose a fabric that is tight and fitted. Choose a more relaxed linen blazer and think about colour as well. Instead of just going black, why don't you try a beautiful dark purple or a dark green? If you can get away with a little bit more colour and a little bit more of a relaxed look, try it out.

This is a great way to use fashion to feel more approachable.

Another good thing is to ask yourself, would you approach you if you were meeting you? Really think about those questions and go get changed If the answer is no.

3. Let's talk about how professional you are.

If you need to be professional, your outfit can reflect that to others and how they see you. Let's say you're going for a job interview or you're meeting with a client. It's really important that you dress in a professional way.

The goal when it comes to dressing professionally is to avoid anything that's too casual and too sexy. You want to come across as if you are trustworthy. The trick with this is to dress in clothes that fit you well.

And something quite simple.

So go for simple block colours.

Go for really nice light fabric.

You can go stiff if you want to go extra professional if the job requires that. But just keep it in that middle ground. Don't go super casual. Don't go too professional. Go neat and tidy.

4. Your outfit conveys your lack of style and your sense of style.

I am helping you become your best self with style!

If you don't make the effort to get dressed every single day, people will think that you don't care about how you look or about yourself, or about your life. People will get that impression straight away. This doesn't mean that you have to wake up in the morning and do a full face of makeup, big earrings etc for the full-on outfit.

It just means that you need to wake up and instead of going for those daggy, baggy tops and leggings, maybe change the top, but keep the leggings or maybe change the leggings and keep the top.

So every single day it's about making that little bit of extra effort into how you look in the day. And it's also about how you feel too.

Because the biggest thing, if we go back to tip number one, is how confident you are!

So the thing with style is you wear what you are.

If you are feeling down and lazy and unmotivated, of course, you're going to go and pick those pieces that also reflect that feeling. But if you are driven, motivated, and ready to go out there and rule your day, then you are going to pick clothes that help you lift that spirit.

If you're struggling to get dressed in the morning and you want to be this person, but you're dressing like this person. Ask yourself, What would she wear today? What's one outfit piece that she would swap out and become the better self every single day?
